The splendid city of Las Vegas offers so much more than slot machines and buffets. With great weather year-round, this city is a playground for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you want to wash away the sin from the night before with a nice bike ride, or are looking for a challenging trail for the ultimate workout, Vegas has something for everyone. Here are some epic bike paths and trails to take advantage of when you’re hanging in the desert.

5 OF THE BEST BIKE PATHS AND TRAILS IN THE LAS VEGAS AREA

1. RED ROCK CANYON

It would be remiss not to mention the world-famous Red Rock Canyon. This breathtaking area is home to thousands of tourists each year who come to enjoy the wonderful trails, wildlife, and scenery. A short drive from Vegas, there’s a multitude of trailheads for you to pick and choose from to suit your hiking ability. Rent a bike, take a drive, or explore by foot, but get out there and enjoy one of the true highlights of the area.

2. WESTERN BELTWAY TRAIL

The Western Beltway is roughly a 12-mile walking, jogging, or biking trail on the west side of Vegas. If you don’t want to stray too far from the city but would like to get away from the noise for the afternoon, this is a great option. The views are excellent, especially around sunset. There aren’t any bathrooms or water spots on the trail, so be sure to come prepared and remember that you are in the desert.

3. PECCOLE RANCH WALKING TRAIL

It’s hard to tell if you’re in the desert or in a lush fertile valley when you take a stroll on the Peccole Ranch Walking Trail. There’s an abundance of greenery that feels like the perfect oasis in the desert. Mature trees line the path providing ample shade on those scorching summer days. It’s family-friendly and a great place to take the stroller and even the dog, as there are doggy clean-up bags throughout. Whether walking or biking, this trail provides a nice respite from the bustling city.

4. WETLANDS PARK FRIENDS

This beautiful nature reserve is a real jewel that sparkles in the desert heat. The biking and walking trails are excellent, and the LV Wash acts as a divider between the desert landscape and the wetlands. Listen to the rushing water below as you bask in nature’s bounty and take in the local wildlife like roadrunners, geese, turtles, and even big-horned sheep. It doesn’t matter if you’re training for a marathon or out for a leisurely jaunt, Wetlands Park Friends won’t disappoint.

5. RIVER MOUNTAINS LOOP TRAIL

This stunning 35-mile trail showcases terrific views of the Vegas valley and Lake Mead. You can go on foot, but this trail is best done on a bicycle. Be sure to come prepared with water and sunscreen, because if you get a flat tire, it’s a long walk home. This is a challenging ride and a favorite among the locals. The scenery is spectacular and diverse providing a feast for the eyes all day long.
Hiking and biking are great, but at some point, you’re going to want something that requires a little less energy. For that, head down to Earnhardt Buick GMC Vegas to scoop up one of our excellent new or used vehicles.
